Five Of The Most Offensive Video Games Of All Time

Now in recent history there has been a fair amount of controversy surrounding our beloved video games. Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt and even Call Of Duty have offended parents and politicians alike.

Well here at Any Button Gaming we pride ourselves on going that extra mile so you do not miss out on anything, so that means we’ve had to dig real deep to find this bunch of distasteful games.

So in no particular order here are some of the most offensive games of all time.

Custer’s Revenge – 1982

Okay so the 80’s was the era of bad fashion, Return Of The Jedi and punk rock. But unfortunately the 80’s was also the era of a little game called Custer’s Revenge. Looking at the box-art above and when you consider the Atari 2600 basic pixel graphics, I am sure you are thinking “Come on. How bad can it be?”.

Well the now infamous Custer’s Revenge puts you in charge of a naked General Custer and you must get the mischievous little bastard across the screen (Desert) while avoiding the Native Americans incoming arrows. All so you can get to the other side and rape a naked native woman who is tied to a post at the other end.

Super Columbine Massacre RPG! – 2005

After the atrocity that befell the teachers and students of Columbine High School in 1999 you would think that no one would be invested in turning the tragedy into a video game. Well American film director and now former game developer Danny Ledonne filled that gap in the market.

“Players assume the roles of gunmen Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and act out the massacre, with flashbacks relating parts of Harris and Klebold’s past experiences. The game begins on the day of the shootings and follows Harris and Klebold after their suicides to fictional adventures in perdition.” – wikipedia.org

Apparently created as a commentary and critique on how the media held video games responsible for inspiring the shooters, SCMRPG! makes Harris and Klebold the games heroes in their own post suicide adventures.

Muslim Massacre – 2008

I am sure you don’t need me to tell you what this games about. What I will do however is let the games creator, former Something Awful forum member Eric Vaughn AKA “Sigvatr” tell you in his own words..

“Take control of the American hero and wipe out the Muslim race with an arsenal of the world’s most destructive weapons.”

Sigvatr AKA Vaughn describes his game as..

“Something along the lines of metaphorically destroying the stereotypical depiction of a Muslim.”

Muslim Massacre also had the tagline “Don’t be a liberal…! Download the game now”. The game has since had over 100,000 downloads.

RapeLay – 2006

Developed by Japanese game studio Illusion. RapeLay is a point and click adventure putting you in control of a man named Masaya Kimura, who stalks and rapes a mother and her two daughters.

“After being caught by Aoi groping a woman on a subway train, Masaya Kimura is arrested by authorities. On the morning of the next day, Aoi and her young sister Manaka help their mother Yuuko find a wallet she lost around their home while talking about the incident the previous day. Unknown to them, Kimura secretly eavesdrops on their conversation while waiting outside their house. It is revealed here that his father, a well known influential/important politician, managed to release him from custody. When Kimura discovers that Yuuko is widowed, he decided to put his revenge plan into action.” – wikipedia.org

Unsurprisingly the game was subsequently banned in numerous countries.

Ethnic Cleansing – 2002

Developed by the American White supremacist organisation National Alliance (and published by its record label Resistance Records) in 2002. Players take control of a Neo-Nazi skinhead or a Klansman and tasked with killing stereotypical African-American, Mexican, and Jewish enemies, culminating in a face off with former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

“The game’s soundtrack consists of white power rock music. The game’s art assets and sound effects feature racial stereotypes: when shot, black enemies make monkey noises and Jewish enemies are dressed as rabbis and shout “oy vey!”. Mexican characters shout “I need to take a siesta now”. In addition, black enemies are drawn to resemble apes and some wear T-shirts with the lettering “NIGZ”, while Mexican enemies wear sombreros.” – wikipedia.org
