Epic Games Confirms Next-Gen Update For Fortnite

Dropping soon.

Epic Games Confirms Day 1 Fortnite Update For Next-Gen Consoles

With a new console generation barely a week away, Epic Games have added their considerable weight to the hype-train, releasing a new blog post highlighting what players can expect from the shooter when it updates alongside the launches of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The update promises 4k and 60FPS across both Series X and PS5, while Series S players will also enjoy 60FPS, albeit at a lesser 1080P resolution.

The graphical glow-up will also include “a more dynamic and interactive world with grass and trees responding to explosions, enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid (cooler-looking smoke and liquid effects), and all-new Storm and cloud effects.”

PS5 early-adopters will also soon have the additional immersion provided by Sony’s new Dualsense controller, with Fortnite offering haptic feedback, which “makes it feel like you’re holding the Suppressed SMG or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle.”

In addition, Playstation players will be able to drop into their favourite mode directly from the PS5’s new home screen.

Epic Games have said that none of your favourite skins will miss the journey onto next-gen, and cross-platform play will remain for those whose squad-mates aren’t quite ready for the jump onto the new platforms.

With loading performance also expected to improve, you can be on your way to the first Victory Royale of a new era in no time.
