Ember Rallies Behind National Videogame Museum With Fundraising Livestream

The world is in a difficult place at the moment. As the covid-19 pandemic spreads, governments rightfully are introducing lockdown legislation. Businesses, charities and staff are losing income as countries gradually grind to a halt. The UK’s only museum dedicated to videogames, The National Videogame Museum (NVM), find themselves at risk of permanent closure.

As mentioned on their JustGiving page, the museum normally sees around 40,000 visitors each ear. Providing entertainment and education, the museum has around 100 playable games, exhibits on gaming culture, social workshops and family events. Beyond entertainment, the NVM provides community services; for example, programmes on videogame creation for disadvantaged children.

The gaming community has a rich history of coming together in difficult times. Recently, one member donated $10,000 towards Humble Bundle’s amazing “Conquer Corona” bundle – considerably above the $25 suggested donation. With all proceeds going to institutions fighting covid-19, the top 6 donations currently total $20,000!

Similarly, in support of the NVM, Ember, a social media site for the gaming community, has arranged a stream to promote awareness and raise funds for the NVM JustGiving campaign. You can check out the National Videogame Museum website and JustGiving pages here.

The stream will run from 12:00-00:00 11/04/2020, with several prominent members of the community taking part. As the stream ends at midnight, there will be a raffle with prizes including Ember t-shirts and steam keys. All you need to enter, is donate to the NVG JustGiving page.

You can find Ember’s stream tomorrow from midday on Twitch:

We look forward to seeing you then!
