Back in 2011, EA made the decision to launch Battlefront 3 exclusively on their own Origin client. Since then, all EA games have launched exclusively on Origin. They even pulled Crysis 3 from Valve’s storefront. However, a recent discovery by @RobotBrush and a cryptic tweet by EA suggest that their games may be returning to the platform.
Earlier in the week, Robot discovered a test application which runs Origin games thought Steam. This is likely to be a similar application of how Ubisoft games, sold through Steam, launch from Uplay when opened.
Adding further fuel to the rumours, yesterday the EA twitter account posted a cryptic tweet simply depicting a steaming cuppa. Perhaps conjecture, but it seems like an attempt at generating discussion around EA potentially returning to PC gaming’s largest marketplace.
Having Apex Legends as a free to play game on the Steam marketplace seems like a no-brainer. While it would be nice to have the option of consolidating game libraries in one place.
What are your thoughts? Would you like to see EA games return to Steam?
