E3 Organisers Leak Personal Details of Over 2,000 Journalists and Content Creators

A list containing the personal details of 2,025 games journalists and content creators has been leaked by E3 organisers, the Entertainment Software Association.

The list was made available through the ESA website. As a result, personal addresses and contact details were made publicly available.

The ESA released a statement expressing that they “regret the occurrence,” and that the link has been removed.

“ESA was made aware of a website vulnerability that led to the contact list of registered journalists attending E3 being made public. Once notified, we immediately took steps to protect that data and shut down the site, which is no longer available. We regret this this occurrence and have put measures in place to ensure it will not occur again. Because the link included EU members of the press, this is likely going to become a GDPR issue for the ESA. The maximum fine for a GDRP breach is €20 million.
