E3 2019 – Bethesda Conference – Summary

Bethesda the creators of fan favorites such as: Doom, Skyrim and the Fallout franchise did not disappoint fans at this year’s E3. At each segment they spent time thanking the community for their dedication and feedback. Although not a lot of new games were announce, Bethesda did announce new expansion, dlc’s and modes to that they are adding to existing games. First game to be announced was Elder Scrolls: Blades. The game has been in the Beta stage and has had the biggest following of a mobile game since Fallout Shelter. The game is being launched tonight, along with the new dragon questions. Coming soon is the addition of PVP and the ability to visit your friends towns. Later this fall Elder Scrolls: Blades is coming to the Nintendo Switch. It will be cross play and cross progression with the mobile version.

Fallout 76: Wastelanders is being added to the game this fall. Bethesda announced the addition of Human NPCs, full dialogue trees, new quest lines and rewards. It will be free for all Fallout 76 players. Along with the additional of Wastelanders we were given a sneak peak of an all new game mode: Nuclear Winter. Nuclear Winter is a new 52-player Battle Royale mode. It will also be a Free addition. Both Wastelanders and Nuclear Winter is available to try free on all platforms during the free Fallout 76 trial week of June 10-17.

Bethesda Studios confirmed that they are still working on their next gen RPG; Starfield as well as Elder Scrolls 6. No additional details were provided.

Tango Gameworks, from Tokyo, announced their next game as Ghostwire Tokyo. It is an action adventure game. Citizens of Tokyo are disappearing. Players must investigate what is happening and fight to rid the city of supernatural enemies. No release date was announced.

Zenimax Online Studios announced that dragons have been added to Elder Scrolls Online with the addition of Season of the Dragon and the expansion to Elsewyr, which is now able and includes the new Necromancer class. Elder Scrolls Online fans will also have 2 new DLC’s to look forward to: Dragon Hold which will arrive in the 4th quarter and a new dungeon DLC called Scalebreaker which will be coming in August.

Zenimax also announced a new free to play mobile game called Commander Keen. You may remember the original Commander Keen, which was a popular game in the early 90’s by developer id Software. Zenimax has put a modern spin on the game and brought in a new generation of heroes (the kids of the original Commander Keen). A soft launch will occur this summer on IOS and Android. Pre-registration is available now.

The Elder Scrolls Legends – mobile card battle game launched earlier this year on Android and IOS. It is available free to play right now. The expansion for PC and Mac will be available later this year.

Rage 2: Rise of the Ghosts expansion is coming with new enemies, portable mechs, new cheats, game play modes, story, weapons and abilities. There will also be new areas to explore

Wolfenstein; Cyber Pilot – will be available July 2019. Along with Cyber Pilot, Wolfenstein YoungBlood was announced. This game will include more weapons, upgrades, customization and enemies. Wolfenstein YoungBlood will also introduce a co-op mode. Play on your own or with a friend. It will be available on PS4, XBOX One, Switch and PC on July 26, 2019

Arkane Lyon announced their latest FPS game, DeathLoop. It’s a mind bending story with arcade signature game play that allows the players to make decisions on their game play.

Bethesda didn’t just talk about new games or expansions, they also talked about a dramatic new technology called Orion. This technology was developed specifically for game streaming. It is said to optimize game engines in a cloud environment. Orion is incorporated at the game level and not the hardware level like other streaming services. Streaming games will be faster and better with Orion. The technology was shown with a live demonstration of streaming the Doom 2016 mobile game.

The much anticipated Doom Eternal was announced. To be launched November 22, 2019, it will not only be available in standard addition but also collectors edition which includes a wearable replica helmet. Of course Doom can’t be left out of the multiplayer modes. A new Doom battle mode was teased. This mode pits the slayer against the demons in a battle area style game where strategy and skill will be needed to win. More details will be provided at Quakecon.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Doom. Bethesda will be celebrating this milestone anniversary with more Doom related announcements and information at Quakecon, which they have dubbed Doomcon.
