Don’t Expect To See A Numbered Halo Title For Awhile

After this week’s Xbox Game Showcase, we got the latest info about Halo Infinite. Hot off controversy, from everything about the graphics and textures, to map design, and game designs. One things after another it seems has pissed off the fan base. But developers, 343 Industries have jumped into action answering tons of questions and comments.

One of those questions asked pertains to the future of the series. Will there be a new Halo game after Infinite?

Could Halo go on for infinite?

Ryan McCaffrey from IGN sat down and talked with Halo Infinite Studio Head Chris Lee.

“Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future,” he said. “We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. It’s really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community.”

Now I know what you’re thinking; “They are just turning it to Destiny!”. But hear me out. After every time a new Halo game comes out, the community often becomes split between the new game and the previous. By keeping a game and the next set of content under the same roof, they hope to avoid that.

Over time they can add new downloadable content to just one game, verses spreading it out across multiple games. Halo Infinite could get things like new story missions, multiplayer maps and modes, and even performance enhancement patches. Ray tracing is one of those planned performance enhancements.

This information about was first reported on IGN.
