Do You Own a Copy of Fallout 76 on Bethesda.net? You Can Also Get a Free Steam Copy

Bethesda is teaming up with Steam to give Fallout 76 players the game for free for a limited time. Are you ready to head back into Fallout 76 for the Wastelanders expansion?

Bethesda’s Fallout 76 is soon to be released on Steam.

To celebrate this, Bethesda is offering anybody who owns a Bethesda.net copy of the game a copy on Steam. This is for free (for a limited time).

It might not sound like a great deal when you consider the (no pun intended) fallout that has followed 76. But, a free game is still a free game.

In order to receive the free copy, players will need to link their Bethesda.net and Steam accounts before 13th April.

Furthermore, Fallout 76: Wastelanders will also launch on 14th April. Which means Steam players will be able to start it the same day it launches. For anyone unfamiliar, Wastelanders promises to bring NCPs and story content to 76.

Which, of course, is something that almost everybody in the community has asked for since before launch. Still, at least it’s free.

If you haven’t already bought Fallout 76 on Bethesda.net, you could still take advantage of a unique giveaway. If you purchase the game between 14th and 28th April, you’ll receive the Fallout Classic Collection.

This suitably titled bundle features the original Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. (Bethesda.net players will also be able to gain access to this bundle within that same launch window.)

Any items you’ve previously purchased on the Atomic Shop will be shipped over to Steam. And Bethesda has promised that all game progress made will also be made available on Steam.

Bethesda & Steam Certainly Haven’t Fall(en)Out Over This

That’s about the end of the good news though. If you have a collection of Fallout 76‘s in-game premium currency, Atoms, you cannot transfer these between accounts. Ditto with Fallout 1st membership. If you do have any Atoms on your Bethesda.net account and want to play on Steam exclusively, Bethesda recommends spending them prior to switching over.

However, there may be a glimmer of hope. You might be able to sort something out with your Fallout 1st membership if you contact Bethesda’s customer support. We can’t guarantee this will always be available though, so it’s probably best to do it sooner rather than later.

Regardless of whether you stick with Bethesda.net, move over to Steam, or play on consoles, Fallout 76: Wastelanders will be available from 14th April. However, console players will not gain a free Steam copy. This offer is only available to Bethesda.net players.
