Diablo Immortal Costs £90k to Fully Upgrade Characters

Everyone’s favourite in-game monetisation system rears its ugly head

Recently released Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play PC/mobile game proving to be quite popular.

Taking the well-known structure of previous Diablo titles and taking it – primarily – on the go has hit the right notes.

However, at the end of the day, this is a free-to-play mobile-based game.

As such, you can expect to pay out for the best-quality gear and upgrades.

In fact, according to Bellular News, to completely max out your character, you would have to spend ~$110,000 (~£88,000) on microtransactions.

Diablo Immortal allows players to purchase Legendary Gems – the game’s premium currency.

These Legendary Gems are used towards one of the character’s three progression pillars, alongside gear and XP levels.

However, the act of getting Legendary Gems is randomised, and they rarely drop even for players who pay into the game.

Legendary Gems cannot be bought on their own – players need to unlock them through Legendary Chests.

Which, as I’m sure you can surmise, are basically loot boxes.

Bellular News has also worked out that non-paying players would have to grind for ten years to be able to obtain enough Legendary Gems to max out.

Ten. Years.
