According to Devil May Cry 5 director Hideaki Itsuno, gamers will be able to spend real money to upgrade their characters.
A build of the game was shown at Tokyo Game Show, where red orbs could be bought at Divinity Statues in-game to speed up progression. While this same system was in Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, gamers have given a mostly negative response, and it’s a surprise to see it returning.
“With giving people the ability to purchase Red Orbs, it’s something we want to give people as an option,” Itsuno said. “If they want to save time and want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do that. But on the other hand, I don’t feel you have to get all the moves. You should be able to play it the way you want to play it.”
While the game looks otherwise remarkable, a bad taste is left in players mouths with the inclusion of microtransactions in a AAA single-player game.
