The Fallout: London mod is, in a word, impressive.
So impressive, in fact, that the developers – volunteers – have been offered jobs at Bethesda.
A little context; Fallout: London is a DLC-sized mod for Fallout 4, created by a team composed of amateurs and veterans.
The team has created a space about the size of Fallout 4‘s Far Harbor DLC.
It’s been in the works since 2017.
And, as the name suggests, it takes the Fallout universe from a decidedly non-irradiated USA and into a post-apocalyptic London.
It isn’t finished yet, but the team is pleased with its progress.

Again, it’s so impressive that it caught the eyes of Bethesda.
The Fallout: London team revealed the headhunting via a tweet;
The tweet contained a post from the mod’s Discord channel, which read;
“We have a few very special and bittersweet announcements for you all today.
Our Lead Technical Adviser Ryan Johnson will be departing the project to go and work at Bethesda as an Associate Level Designer.
…
We also have a special shout out to the Project Lead, Dean Carter, who was also offered a position at the Bethesda UK Branch fr Fallout 76. However, through some very hard soul-searching, [he] decided to decline the offer of an industry role to continue working [on] Fallout: London through until the end”.
The fact that these volunteers were approached by and offered paid jobs by Bethesda is truly heart-warming. It shows how much faith and hard work Fallout: London has had put into it.
If you haven’t checked out Fallout: London yet, please do, especially if you’re a fan of Bethesda/Fallout/London/fan mods. The level of detail and presentation is second to none.
Some might even say it’s better than the game it is based off of.
