Focus and Deck13 have actually been working together since 2011, with Focus publishing several games including the aforementioned Surge titles.
So this acquisition makes sense for both parties, with the below statements issued from the companies.
“We are very happy to welcome the team of Deck13 and look forward to working together to achieve our ambitious objectives.
This acquisition marks a major milestone in our growth story and will strengthen our business model,”Jurgen Goeldner, Chairman of the Focus board
“I am delighted to announce that Deck13 is now part of Focus Home Interactive. Our companies have been working together successfully since 2011, developing award winning brands such as The Surge.
We are looking forward to leveraging the incredible capabilities of Focus Home Interactive to develop new successes,”Jan Klose, Deck13 co-founder and managing director
Deck13 isn’t a small studio by any means with over 60 developers involved in their operation and they have even published games through it’s Spotlight label.
Their latest title CrossCode is set to release on consoles on 9th July, and will be available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
This fusing of the two entities will unsurprisingly get fans hyped about the possibility of a third installment in The Surge franchise, as the sequel improved an interesting sci-fi twist on a souls like title.
