The September expansion has been a big thing in Destiny and Destiny 2. It marks the change of the year, a shake-up of the game and a general dusting of cobwebs. Unfortunately, Destiny 2 players will have to wait for a little longer this year.
To that end, the Beyond Light update has been pushed to 10th November.
In his post, Deej (Community Manager) stated that the reason for this was due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. It has caused unforeseen delays and many developers have had to push back dates to accommodate this. Deej maintained that Bungie wanted to put out a high-quality product for this new era of Destiny 2.
“As the first chapter in a new trilogy of expansions, Beyond Light is the beginning of a new era of Destiny 2 […] To that end, we are doing what’s best for the game and moving the launch date”.Deej
This is not the first, nor will it be the last thing, affected by the pandemic. However, this does raise some questions. Will the current season be extended? How will the player base stop content get too old? Is another event coming to take its place (my money is on Iron Banner)? Finally, will this push all subsequent releases back to November? We will see in the coming months and years.
