Cyberpunk 2077 has Been Delayed Again

Despite its best efforts, Cyberpunk 2077 has, unfortunately, been delayed again by CD Projekt Red. The team promise it is to make sure every version runs as smoothly as possible.

Despite having recently been certified gold, Cyberpunk has been deemed not quite ready for launch.

As such, CD Projekt Red has postponed the game’s release by 21 days [20 at time of press]. The new release date is now 10th December [hey, that’s the day after my birthday!]

CDPR’s Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski posted the following ominous yellow banner;

“…The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time. [This] requires us to prepare and test nine versions of it [Xbox One/X, compatibility on Xbox Series S/X, PS4/Pro, compatibility on PS5, PC, Stadia] while working from home. Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do”.

And as for the game “going gold”, CDPR had something to say on that as well in light of recent news;

“…Passing certification means the game is ready, can be completed, and has all content in it. But it doesn’t mean we stop working on it and raising the quality bar. On the contrary, this is the time where many improvements are being made which will then be distributed via a Day 0 patch. This is the time period we undercalculated”.

So, unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 will miss the next-gen console launch. However, it does mean that any and all bugs and little fiddly bits should be ironed out.
