Cult of the Lamb is a rogue-like action adventure game developed my Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital.
The game is focussed around growing your own cult. You are a lamb that is possessed but have been saved from annihilation by an ominous stranger. This debt is to be repaid by building a loyal following in his name.
You must venture out into various mysterious regions in order to grow your following and spread the Word to become the one true cult.
While adventuring through the randomly generated world you will come across other animals where you can recruit them into your cult and indoctrinate them back at base. You are able to change their appearance and accept both their negative and positive traits which will impact your cult. You can assign your followers certain tasks once they are indoctrinated such as chopping wood, mining stone or worshipping you. The resources that they gather help you create structures for your cult’s base and their worshipping allows you to upgrade your abilities.
You will need to maintain your followers faith levels by performing sermons to reinforce their beliefs about The One Who Waits. There is importance around keeping your cultists happy. You must provide them with food, shelter, and maintaining the cleanliness of your cult so that they don’t get sick. If these needs aren’t met they are able to turn against you. They may try to persuade other followers that you are a false prophet and leave your cult.
You will also be tasked with destroying the non-believers that are spread throughout the randomly generated world. By fighting off hordes of enemies and defeating rival cult leaders and followers you are able to absorb their power and assert your cult’s dominance throughout the five mysterious regions. As your cult gains more followers you are able to expand your cult’s village, have your followers assist you in battle, and pray to The One who Waits to increase its power.
Cult of the Lamb will be released on PlayStation, PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on the 11th August 2022
