Chronicles of Galdurvale (COG), is a single-player action-adventure game that follows the exploits of a young hunter named Amelia, destined to harness the powers of the Dragon Riders of Old.
Luminous Games received an Epic MegaGrant to develop the project. What is Chronicles of Galdurvale?
Does she have the courage to soar upon their majestic wings?
Chronicles of Galdurvale, full title Chronicles of Galdurvale – Legend of The Dragon Rider, is an adventure of the ages. Defeat your enemies with sword, spell or bow. Collect a variety of devastating attacks, and magical powers. Craft potions and arrows, or even upgrade your favorite gear. Complete side quests to gain exciting rewards. Encounter an enormous bestiary of colorful monsters, each determined to cut you down.
Combat can be deadly. Amelia’s health can disappear all too quickly, especially against her toughest foes. Survival requires timing and quick reflexes, utilizing abilities acquired over the course of your adventure and unlocking environmental puzzles that block your path.

Landscapes Aplenty
The game world contains a diverse range of landscapes – from clearwater beaches to quiet pine forests and towering mountain peaks. Explore abandoned dungeons and ancient temples. Pass through orc strongholds, and cross never-ending deserts. Peer behind waterfalls into secret passages – even climb the caldera of a raging volcano.
We are also fortunate to have the help of some very talented voice actors to help bring Galdurvale to life, including Melissa Medina as the hero Amelia, Rupert Booth as the mage Lysander, Anarosa Butler as the treacherous Mina, and many, many more.
Influences and Impressions

The games influences are clear to see, with Zelda, Fable and even the very underrated PS2 title Drakan: The Ancients’ Gates ( I loved that game for the glorious dragon flying and giant chicken fighting alone) coming across from current videos and screenshots.
My first impressions are that the team seem to have their influences in the genre, but are looking to make the game carve it’s own niche, as one shot from the combat trailer shows a large horde accosting Amelia, with a more Diablo-esque amount of enemies in play.
And as lovely as the game looks, some shots do seem fairly barren. Here’s hoping their stretch goals can adjust the graphical capabilities of the title to enhance the visuals and give players more of an immersive experience.
The combat whilst looking standard fayre, does also seem to have it’s interesting aspects. Amelia wields several swords as well as a bow in the trailer, and also seems to almost blink past some enemies to a high point, intent on closing the distance and delivering a punishing sword blow.
Amelia does also freeze some enemies, to then smash them into pieces, showing the magic variety on offer. Hopefully there will be many more magical elements to sample as you look for your preferred combat style.
The Chronicles of Galdurvale Kickstarter campaign will be live from March 16 to April 18, 2021.
