Game developer The Wild Gentlemen have released Chicken Police. It is a narrative detective game where you will be clicking through dialogue making choices along the way. There are items to collect for later use and “persons” of interest to interrogate all wrapped up in a 1940s film noir-inspired style with personified animals as its characters.
It’s about a down-and-out police detective named Santino “Sonny” Featherland. He is soon to be retired, but has just taken on a new case. However as the case is more serious than he first thought, he decides to recruit the help of his old partner, Marty MacChicken. The once legendary detective team known as the Chicken Police have reformed!
The two fowls have an awkward history involving Marty shooting Sonny with a shotgun! Yet for the sake of the case the duo decide to put their differences behind them.
As you can see from the official trailer above the imagery of Chicken Police was inspired by the film noir movies of the ’40s and games like Grim Fandango and Snatcher. The game uses a unique blend of 2D and 3D designs and contemporary visuals of old cinema.
Chicken Police is available now on PC, PS4, XBOX ONE, Nintendo Switch
