As you’ve probably heard by now, CDPR has yet again delayed Cyberpunk 2077. While this is annoying for players, it seems some sad individuals have taken it upon themselves to directly threaten the dev team at CD Projekt Red.
Responding to the threats via Twitter, Senior game designer at CD Projekt Red, Andrzej Zawadzki responded by saying that the threats were, “absolutely unacceptable”.
The reason for Cyberpunk 2077’s delay is down to the Polish Dev team having to test NINE versions of the game, to make sure they all run as smoothly as possible for players on all platforms.
Some players are claiming that the team ‘lied’ after a tweet emerged saying that there wouldn’t be any more delays;
However, Social media manager for CDPR, Fabian Mario Döhla has stated in a comment under Zawadki’s tweet that they heard the news at the same time as everyone else;
“Would love to clarify this. I was responding via @CyberpunkGame to a bunch of tweets last night. Including the ‘full confirmation’. Great idea. Thing is: we are a public traded company and it’s almost impossible to tell every employee beforehand. Mainly because of legal reasons. I’m aware of this (and used to it) but it can be super confusing for external people. Long story short: CP Twitter (and therefore our studio – as it’s an official channel) did not lie on purpose. I simply didn’t know. Apologies”.
Now let’s be real;
Delays to games happen all time, but under no circumstances should you threaten someone with death, JUST because a game is delayed. Some of the messages are too upsetting to be shown, but Zawadzki has released this one to give people an idea of what the team have to deal with.
Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release on ALL consoles on 10th December.
Oh and if you think sending death threats to someone, for any reason, is a great idea, then you’re a cunt.
