CD Projekt RED Has Already Started Work on Next Game

The gaming world is eagerly anticipating the release of Cyberpunk 2077. However, that doesn’t mean that CD Projekt RED is merely working on Cyberpunk along. No no, CDPR has their eyes set on the future

Whilst the gaming world is looking forward to the eventual release of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt is already working on their next game.

As noted by Polish business site Stooq, CDPR President Adam Kiciński spoke at length about the new project:

“We have already been working on another single-player game. We have created a relatively clear concept that is waiting for further development. And this is already beginning to happen, although we do not want to spend time on it. Immediately after the work on Cyberpunk 2077 over the next title will kick-off”.

However, whilst CDPR is best-known for its Witcher series, that doesn’t mean the next title will be The Witcher 4. Kiciński added how the company wants to create more games based in the Witcher universe:

“Nothing has changed. We have two worlds and within these worlds, we want to create games. Therefore, all planned games are either Witcher-based or Cyberpunk-based”.

Furthermore, following Cyberpunk 2077‘s release, CDPR will release expansions to it – much like they did with The Witcher 3.

The RED Future

However, Stooq did mention that CDPR could be working on a multiplayer mode of some description. This was after all of Cyberpunk‘s add-ons were released. And they did note that it was a “so-called multiplayer”.

The largest of CDPR’s production teams will start to work on a multiplayer version of Cyberpunk. Whether this will be a separately released game or a multiplayer-mode add-on remains to be seen, of course.

The second-largest team will focus on additions to the core Cyberpunk game. The smallest team within CDPR will begin work on another large scale single-player title.

Despite the (possible) inclusion of a multiplayer game, CDPR will hold true to their values. Kiciński added:

“We just want to do a little more games – we’ll prove that we can do two big games at the same time, which will take us quite a few years”.
