Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Just Dropped on Mobile

The Symphony of the Night mobile port dropped unexpectedly. As in, there was no teasing or or warning about it. Still, for £2.99, the port looks as stunning as ever.

Without any warning (even up to its actual release) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night recently dropped on mobile. The port of the PlayStation Classic is available on both Android and iOS stores. It’s also fairly reasonably priced at just £2.99/$2.99.

The port comes with touchscreen controls, though rumour has it the game is also fully compatible with controllers.

Another addition likely to elicit a sigh of relief from fans is the new continue feature. This means the minutes spent waiting to jump back in from the title screen after each death are no more.

That being said, you might want to head back to check out the new menu design every now and then.

From what we can tell, the mobile port is based on the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 4 versions of Symphony of the Night, rather than the original.

More New Features

As a result, this version comes with both a new script and new voice acting in tow. There are extra familiars for you to face, new credits music, a boss fight versus Maria, and to top it off, Maria is playable.

Besides these additions, the game itself appears to be relatively unchanged.

Whether the timing is intentional or not is unclear. Regardless SotN has dropped just as we’re gearing up to watch the latest season of Netflix’s Castlevania series, which just so happened to come out today [5th March].

The latest instalment of the Netflix series will see the continuing adventures of the trio of unlikely companions. Previous seasons saw vampire slayer Trevor Belmont, the mage Sypha, and half-vampire Alucard face off against the Prince of Darkness himself, Dracula.

With SotN now available on mobile, you can take control of Alucard, the white-haired son of Dracula, anywhere you like.
