Casey Hudson, the BioWare big-wig, has decided to leave the company. Hudson already resigned once, in 2014, to pursue other projects, but decided in 2017 to come back to BioWare and assume the role of general manager.
BioWare, the creators of Mass Effect– and Dragon Age series recently fell out of grace with the community after their two most recent games were fundamentally underwhelming. I’m of course talking about Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Some might even consider Dragon Age: Inquisition to belong to that same category.
Many people hoped that Casey Hudson’s return would turn the ship around and that he might wrestle the company back on track, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
Because Electronic Arts announced that not only is Hudson leaving BioWare, but Dragon Age producer Mark Darrah as well. Both Hudson and Darrah say that they are looking for new challenges and it’s definitely not because of any “bad blood”.
Samantha Ryan, from Warner Brothers Games, will take on a transitory leadership-role for BioWare, while Blizzard developer Christian Dailey shoulders the responsibility for the upcoming Dragon Age game.
