Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha Going Live This Weekend

PS4 users will be able to try out the new game’s multiplayer mode for free until September 20th. Beta coming next month for all consoles.

As announced earlier this week in the PlayStation showcase, the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alpha will be available September 18-20. You can pre-download the game file (coming in at around 27 GB) right now and start playing at 6PM UK today.

The alpha is exclusive to PS4. It will include several multiplayer maps (of either the 6V6 or 12V12 variant) across several maps.

The current alpha is free to download and play for all PS4 users, with no requirement for PS plus. In addition, the game will have an open beta. Whoever pre-orders the game from the PS store will be able to play the beta on October 8. The beta will then open up for all PS4 players October 10-11. The Beta will make a final return on October 15-19 on all platforms.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold war launches for PC/PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X on November 13.
