Behind The Frame – When A Picture Paints a Thousand Words

Ludonarracon is a digital festival celebrating narrative games brought to you courtesy of Fellow Traveller.

It is a digital convention hosted on Steam celebrating narrative games and the wonderful people that make them. It is FREE and ONLINE so if you like Indie Games and you like narrative games, then there is no excuse not to drop in and take a look at some of the fabulous games that are being exhibited.

The convention is in it fourth year and there will be the opportunity to engage with the games developers, watch them livestream their games and if you like what you see, try out the demo.

It runs from the 5th May until the 9th May 2022.

One of the games that you can expect to find is Behind The Frame brought to us by Silver Lining Studio and Akupara Games.

Combining escape rooms and narrative games, Behind the Frame presents a profoundly interactive storytelling of characters’ emotions and plot development. With 360° panorama techniques and an exquisite hand-painted art style, the game takes you into the world of Behind the Frame.

The story centres around you, an aspiring young artist who dreams of of exhibiting her work in New York. Your goal is to solve enough puzzles to discover more colours to finish your painting in time for the exhibition.

Behind the Frame is a puzzle game and a point and click escape room. It is also a very narrative, emotionally heavy story. With each new chapter you learn a part of the whole story. However, each time it feels like you’re scrambling to recover memories of the bigger picture.

I have only played the demo, which you can see from above. Yet I found myself captivated and totally engrossed in the story. I really want to know the answers to the questions that have been raised.

If you’re open to a short, memorable, film-like experience, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

If you would like to try to the game out for yourself then you can find further details here.

The full game is out now and available across all platforms and also on Android and iOS.
