Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Release Date Pushed to Early October

Early Access for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been delayed by a week in order to give the developer more time to work on the game.

Yesterday Larian Studios, the developer of upcoming RPG Baldur’s Gate 3, informed us that early access for the game will launch a week later. The initial release date, announced in the Panel from Hell over a month ago, was September 30. The new release date is October 6, so the developers will have a bit longer to work on the game. The game’s early access is coming to Stadia, Steam and GOG. As the developer made sure to emphasize, “It is. It really is”. Larian Studios has been clear about wanting to go into early access this year, even while working through the global pandemic. It seems as if the developer is still keen on keeping that promise.

The Bad News

After giving us the bad news, Larian Studios shared so more info regarding the upcoming RPG. The developer shared some insights about what has become a staple of contemporary RPGs: Romance.

The Good News

Baldur’s Gate 3 early access will cost 60$ at launch, and will include the first act of the game. That will net you 20-25 hours of gameplay, not including replays. If you’re worried that it’s too short for a 60$ game, you might want to wait until the full release. The developer made sure to point out that the early access is for people who want to be a part of the development, not just for anyone who wants to try the game out.

So where do you come down on this early access? Are you waiting with the game’s store page open? Or will you wait until all of the kinks are worked out? Tell us in the comments!
