Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to feature more modern-day segments.

The news no fan wants to hear. You’ll be pulled from your Viking raiding and thrown into the present as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla promises more modern-day gameplay than Origins or Oddessy.

Ever since the first game, Assassin’s Creed has always featured some sort of present-day game-play. Playing as Desmond up until Assassin’s Creed III to an unknown Abstergo Employee in Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate. These segments have largely been loathed by fans, who just want to be immersed in the Assassin experience.

Eric Clapton’s version of Layla is much more enjoyable

So when Layla rocked up in Origins and Odyssey, gamers were less than pleased at her all but brief appearance, as all gamers want to do is roam around in the Animus infused open world without being ripped from the experience to check what she’s up to.

Valhalla it seems is no exception. Layla is back, stumbling around the English countryside, solving ‘Animus Anomalies. As the PlayStation Blog preview states:

If a corner of the English countryside seems a bit unsynchronized, you may have stumbled across an Animus Anomaly. In these moments the Animus simulation of Eivor’s adventure will pause while present-day protagonist Layla takes over. Navigate the anomaly to reach a data packet filled with eye-catching secrets.

We don’t know at this point, just how many of these anomalies there will be, hopefully, there won’t be a lot. Can’t a Dane just pillage and slaughter in peace?

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is scheduled for release 17th November 2020, on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It has been confirmed for next-gen consoles, but no date has been given.
