In response to the Notre Dame Cathedral fire this week, Ubisoft pledged to donate $500,000 to the reconstruction of the landmark. They also decided to give away Assassin’s Creed Unity free, on PC, for a week.
In support of the gesture, steam users have taken to the store page to positively review the 2011 game. At the time of writing, Unity has received around 600 positive reviews since their April 18th gesture, with a ‘very positive’ rating for recent reviews.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is set in Paris, and contains a model of Notre Dame Cathedral. The model is so detailed, that it has been suggested its 3D models could help facilitate restoration of the cathedral. Ubisoft responded by noting the model contains scaling differences, but that they would be happy to provide their models and expertise to the restoration efforts.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is free for PC users until April 25th. You can pick up for your copy here
