Mobile arcade racing game Asphalt 9 recently launched on the Nintendo Switch. Produced by Gameloft, the Asphalt series has gone from strength to strength on mobile. Boasting some of the best graphics in a mobile game, Asphalt 9 debuted on the Switch back in early October. Since then, over a million players have downloaded the game.
Featuring split-screen action as well as high-end graphical detailing, Asphalt 9 has won many awards on mobile. The game’s blurb reads as follows;
“Asphalt 9: Legends features an extensive roster of real hypercars from renowned manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and W Motors. Pick your dream ride and race across spectacular locations around the world. Leave your friends in the dust and become a legend in your own group or break your limits to achieve worldwide glory”.
This being a mobile game, however, there are the unfortunate inclusions of microtransactions to contend with. I’ve had the game a number of years on mobile and have yet to put money into it. If you can look past those features (which aren’t particularly invasive), Asphalt 9 is a solid racing game.
