Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Will Soon Get Paid Subscription Service

Difficult to defend mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will soon be getting a lot worse. As noted by ResetEra, the introduction of an in-game paid subscription service will soon be implemented.

Akin to Mario Kart Tour‘s recently announced Gold Pass subscription service, Nintendo’s mobile games have already been rife with microtransactions.

The recent in-game announcement reads;

“With the second anniversary of the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game right around the corner, we have a big announcement to make.

We’re rolling out a new paid membership service, Pocket Camp Club on November 21″.

By the looks of things, Pocket Camp Club offers up two different plans. As the announcement further details;

“In one plan, you’ll be able to appoint one lucky animal as your camp caretaker and get some extra help around the campsite.

In the other plan, you’ll be able to receive fortune cookies and store your furniture and clothing in warehouses”.

More details will be revealed later today (20th November). Several members of the community have taken to Twitter to call out Nintendo’s continuous use of shady tactics. Others are worried that the reason Animal Crossing: New Horizons was delayed could be to implement these monetisation methods. Whether that turns out to be true or not remains to be seen. However, for people who still play Pocket Camp, this is a heck of a way for Nintendo to reward them.
