World maker? Minigames? New characters? Nintendo are killing it with their updates for heavyweight titles this week.
Shortly after news of Super Mario Maker‘s huge update was announced, Nintendo released a short video showing the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons features coming to the game on Thursday.
Fans are seriously hyped about the update, with good reason. It looks like Nintendo are introducing a boatload of new stuff. There’s new events with minigames, a unique island to visit, a museum expansion, new decoration types and new characters.
This land is my land, this land is your land
Fan favourites, Leif and Redd, are returning to the series as merchants.
Redd will sell you arts and treasures from the charmingly-named ‘Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler’. You can then display the pieces of art in the newly-expanded museum. Blathers is gonna be so stoked.
Leif will sell a variety of seedlings and saplings to beautify your island with. From the brief glimpse we get of his inventory, it looks like he’s gonna sell bushes and other new plant varieties. The green-fingered islanders amongst us will have a field day (pun very much intended).
There are also a couple of new events in the works. There’s one for Nature Day, May Day and International Museum Day. No, I hadn’t heard of it either.
Speaking as someone hopelessly addicted to Animal Crossing, I can’t wait for this update to drop. KK Slider has just played his concert. I also caught a golden trout, blue marlin and coelacanth last week to populate the museum. This fresh content will be greedily lapped up by Animal Crossing‘s legion of devoted fans.
