Amazon’s Fallout TV Series Casts Walton Goggins in Lead Role

Amazon’s long-gestating Fallout TV adaptation has finally received its first piece of casting news.

As reported by Deadline, Walton Goggins (Sons of Anarchy, The Shield) has joined the project.

His current role is unconfirmed, however, rumours abound that the Fallout TV series will star a ghoul in the lead role – presumably, Goggins would be filling in this rumoured role.

Within the Fallout series, a ghoul is a radiated human, mutated to look more akin to a zombie. The change in a human (and some animals) genealogy into a ghoul (known as “ghoulification” in-universe) gives those afflicted longer lifespans, natural radiation immunity, and more. Though, the drawbacks include infertility and, often, reduced mental capacities.

There are a number of well-known ghouls in the Fallout franchise; Fallout 4‘s John Hancock, New Vegas‘s  Raul Tejada, and Fallout 1‘s Set to name just three of the many named ghouls.

Again, it is unclear what role Goggins will play. At this stage, we don’t even actually know if he would be playing a ghoul.

What we do know, however, is that Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley) are acting showrunners. Westworld‘s Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, and Bethesda’s own Todd Howard and James Altman, will all be in executive producer roles.

Amazon Studios and Kilter Films are making Fallout. Production is expected to commence later this year.
