Alleged Resident Evil 8 Information Leaked

With a second re-make due for release we would expect to see some RE3 leaks cropping up. Instead, Leaker Dusk Golem (@AsetheticGamer1) has given a potential glimpse of what is expected in Resident Evil 8.

Their claims suggest that although RE8 has been in development since 2016 and has been allegedly scrapped and completely reworked. According to the leak, we shouldn’t expect a new main-line Resi title for at least a few years. This claim directly challenges the rumors surrounding any Resi 8 announcements for the PS5.

Now it’s important to note that Dusk gave no reasoning for scrapping and rebooting. They gave no indication where they’d received this information.

They suggest that Resi 8 will continue with the Resi 7 first-person play style and will be based in a snowier European environment continuing with Resi 7 protagonist Ethan Winters.

The full rundown from the leak includes;

  • Ethan will be returning as a playable character.
  • Resident Evil 8 was tested last year.
  • It will not be called Resident Evil 8, but will have a “clever title”
  • The game will be in First-person like RE7.
  • Gameplay starts in a village leading up to a castle.
  • The environment will be rural, snowy, and mountainous; possibly Europe.
  • Regular zombies will be appearing instead of the Molded from RE7.
  • There is a persistent shadowy “female” enemy that will follow you but will dissipate if shot.
  • There are also wolf-like creatures that will attack the player in certain areas.
  • Chris Redfield will also be returning in some capacity.

All things considered

Why should we trust this one source on all of these specifics? AestheticGamer has a solid history of leaks, especially leaks pertaining to the Resident Evil series; everything from early details on Resident Evil 7’s Not A Hero DLC to confirming Resident Evil: Resistance was connected to the Resident Evil 3 remake before the latter was officially announced.
