Age of Empires IV Beta Begins This Week.

Age of Empires IV Beta Begins This Week.

October may still be two months away but in Age of Empires IV land, it’s almost time for us to once again dive into the next instalment in the long-running RTS series.

Thankfully, before the October 28th release, players, who have signed up to the ‘Age Insiders’, will get a chance to experience the game’s beta test to see what it’s really like.

The beta, which will kick off on August 5th, will include a tutorial mission, teaching players the ‘core skills’ (building, combat, economics) of AoE IV as well as multiplayer and AI versus matches.

Only a sample of the maps teased will be available, but each will allow the user to choose size and appearance.

Also available to testers will be four of the eight launch day civilisations. These are; Mongol, English, Chinese and Delhi Sultanate.

The goal of the beta is to fine-tune systems, hunt down any pesky bugs, address balance issues and pave the way for post-launch support. Developers Relic and World’s End want players to treat this as an actual beta test by playing ‘as many matches as you’re able to while trying out the various matchmaking systems.’

The requirements to run the beta are as follows: (This is a preview spec and are not the recommended requirements for the actual game)

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: 1.7-2.7GHz (turbo) 4 core: Intel Core i5-4460T (35w) / AMD FX-6300 or better
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 760 / AMD Radeon R7 260X or better with at least 2 GB of VRAM

The closed beta runs until August 16th with Age of Empires IV due to release on 28th October on Steam, PC & Gamepass.
