After Just 8 Days, The Culling 2 Is No More.

After only 8 days on sale, The Culling 2 has been officially recalled by developer Xaviant. The developer is issuing refunds to anyone who bought the game and as a result, Xaviant is facing a massive loss. The developer also said that they plan to release the game again in the future.

Microsoft, Sony and Valve have all been contacted to remove the game from their respective stores. Director of operations Josh Van Veld issued an apology to the fans of the original game, via the official Xaviant YouTube channel, for the bad launch of the sequel.

Abandoning the original game, low server population and a poor reception were all big factors in The Culling 2’s flop. The game has been put back into development as a result. Josh Van Veld had this to say:

“It’s been difficult for us to wrap our heads around the entire situation. The Culling 2 was not a game that you asked for and it’s not the game you expect as a worthy successor to The Culling.”

Xaviant is returning to a day one version of The culling. Josh van Veld continued to say they “Changed to much to fast”. Players will be able to test the new build of the game as a test server is available for free.

The Culling 2 came as a bit of a surprise to many people. There was only around 24 hours between it’s announcement and it’s release. Above all, the most important goal for developer Xaviant is to rebuild the game from a day one version. After developing the new build, and adding some features that were removed from the sequel such as airdrops and perks Xaviant are hoping new and old fans will come back to the series.

The test server has been confirmed to be operational until the full game is re-release. However, a date for the re-release has not yet been confirmed.
