Activision Blizzard’s Shareholders Urged to Vote Against CEO’s Bonuses

Mr Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Activision Blizzard, is up for another end-of-year bonus. And the company’s shareholders are being urged to vote against it.

Shareholders for Activision Blizzard are being urged to vote against the company’s boss’ end-of-year bonus.

The prospective vote is to see if Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, should be awarded more end-of-year bonuses.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the CtW Investment Group made a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Within this filing, CtW director, Dieter Waiznegger, urged Activision Blizzard shareholders to “vote against the Management Say on Pay proposal”.

The filing notes;

“Despite repeated low approval votes from shareholders, Activision Blizzard maintains multiple, overlapping opportunities for its CEO to earn outsize equity awards, even when performance-related vesting thresholds have not been met”.

CtW also notes how some of Kotick’s goals and targets he must reach as CEO have been lowered beyond where they were one year ago. Kotick’s proposed compensation has not been reduced as a result, however.

Furthermore, Kotick has reportedly received nearly $100 million in combined stock options and equity since 2016.

Activision Blizzard Being Greedy? Never!

To add more fuel to the fire, Activision Blizzard’s employees “typically earn less than one-third of 1% [~0.33%] of Kotick’s earnings”.

By way of defence, Activision spoke to Gamespot about Kotick. [If you really want to get riled up, give that article a read]. In it, Activision states;

“During Mr Kotick’s tenure – which is the longest of any CEO of a public technology company – Activision Blizzard’s market capitalisation has increased from less than $10 million to over $53 billion dollars.

In the last five years, Activision Blizzard’s share price has outperformed the S&P 500 by more than 120%. Over the past 20 years, under Mr Kotick’s leadership, Activision Blizzard’s share price has outperformed the S&P 500 by over 11,000%”.
